Slync planning guide
How should you plan a cloud workload?
Choose infrastructure from workload needs: expected traffic, data location, recovery requirements and operational capacity. Compare complete configurations under the same assumptions; a low compute price alone does not establish a lower total cost.
What belongs in a cost estimate?
List compute, storage, database, network transfer, logs, backups and support. Record the region and usage assumptions. Model both normal usage and a traffic spike, then compare the estimate with actual billing after launch.
What does reliability require?
Agree how much downtime and data loss the business can tolerate. Design backups, access controls, monitoring and recovery around those requirements. A backup is useful only if the team can restore it when needed.
Before you start
- Record workload, region and data-handling requirements.
- Set spending alerts and identify the billing owner.
- Test restoration and document a recovery procedure.
- Review access permissions and remove unused resources.
